Welcome to Porzehütte

General Information

The Porzehütte was built in 1976 directly on the Carnic main ridge in the region of Obertilliach. The hut was extended in 1983 and has since been an important base for hikers on the „Karnischen Höhenweg “. In 2001 the hut was awarded the environmental seal of approval.

In 2020 and 2021, the Porzehütte was extensively remodelled, extended and new bedrooms were added.

From Obertilliach it is an easy hike to the hut. If you still prefer to only walk part of the way you can drive up to „Klapfsee“ and continue on foot from there.

KHW 403

As with the other huts along the KHW we recommend making your booking at the Porzehütte well in advance. In general, hosts at the huts along the Karnischen Höhenweg ask their guests to book accommodation at least one week prior to arrival.

Route

There are two options to reach your upcoming destination - the Hochweißsteinhaus: 1) choose to hike along the main ridge and the peaks of the mountains or 2) hike along the south side of the ridge leading you across multiple alpine meadows. Calculate a minimum of 8 hrs walking time for this 20 km stretch of the KHW.
